Privacy policy

1.Who we are

TopMove arranges home, office and vehicle moves in South Africa. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean TopMove, the responsible party for your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

If you have a question about your information, WhatsApp us or email hello@topmove.co.za. Our information officer will answer.

2.What we collect

Only what we need to price and run your move:

• Your name, phone number and email address
• The addresses you move from and to, floors, access details and moving date
• What you’re moving, including photos or videos you send us on WhatsApp
• Payment confirmations from our payment providers (we never see or keep your full card number)
• Your location, only if you tap “Use my current location”, and only to fill in your address

We don’t use advertising trackers or analytics cookies on this site.

3.Why we use it

• To give you a price and book your move
• To share the job details with the crew doing your move
• To send you updates before and on moving day
• To handle payments, claims and complaints
• To meet our legal and tax duties

We don’t sell your information, and we only send marketing if you’ve said yes. You can say no at any time.

4.Who we share it with

• The moving partner doing your move: your name, phone number, addresses and inventory
• Payment providers, to take your deposit and balance
• WhatsApp (Meta), when you message us there
• Map services built on OpenStreetMap (Photon, OSRM and OpenFreeMap), which receive the addresses you type so we can find them and draw your route
• Insurers and assessors, if you make a claim

Some of these services store information outside South Africa. Where they do, we use providers with protection in line with POPIA.

5.What stays on your device

If you save a quote, or tick items on our moving checklist, that is kept in your browser’s storage on your own device. It isn’t sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.

6.How long we keep it

Booking and payment records are kept for five years, as tax law requires. Quotes that never became a booking are deleted after twelve months. Photos and videos of your home are deleted once your move and any claim are closed.

7.Your rights

Under POPIA you can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to how we use it. Message us and we reply within 30 days.

If you’re not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.

8.Keeping it safe

Only the people who need your information to run your move can see it, and our partners agree to keep it confidential. This site is served over an encrypted connection.
